The complex of Surga Villas consist of three beautiful villas: The Sorga Gia, The Sorga Ohi, and The Sorga Ki. Gia and Ohi are with four bedrooms in each, while Ki is with five bedrooms.
The Surga Gia
Villa Gia is a composite of three separately roofed buildings intertwined with unusual wooden staircases. It is comprised of four ample air-conditioned bedrooms, a lounge, a dining room, and a modern kitchen bracketing the sides of the enormous living room. There is also a Jacuzzi and a swimming pool.
Traditional Balinese fabrics adorn Surga Villas, as do many Balinese artifacts, including numerous pabuan (boxes traditionally used to contain the different components of temple offerings.)
On entering the house one arrives in the main living area, open on three sides and overlooking the garden, with a back wall providing privacy. The room is decorated with a strong melange of ethnic Balinese and modern furnishings. Overflowing into the swimming pool, the Jacuzzi tub serves as the focal point of the room.
The upper floor of the north building holds the spacious Master Bedroom that features an ensuite bathroom and considerable built-in cupboard space. A wooden ladder leads up to a cushioned loft, and beneath the loft is a writing desk and chair and on the other side of the room, a corner sofa is bejeweled with delicate Batik cushions. Downstairs are two further bedrooms with ensuite bathroom, completed with tropical plants. The Second and Third bedroom boasts double French doors lead to a seating terrace, shaded by the overhang of the alang-alang roof. The teak bed has its own mosquito canopy and is stylishly decorated with ikat fabrics, a traditional style of weaving from North Bali. An ensuite bathroom with an outdoor garden is off to one side.
The third building houses the lounge on the upper floor with kitchen and dining room below. The dining room is open on two sides to the outdoors providing a magnificent panoramic view of the grounds and swimming pool. The Fourth Bedroom features a king-sized bed with its own mosquito net canopy set on a polished wooden floor and paneling around the lower walls. Below the lounge lies the kitchen, featuring full modern amenities, and a semi-outdoors washroom.
The Sorga Ohi
The Sorga Ohi is comprised of two elongated alang-alang (thatched) roofed structures linked by pale stepping-stones perched atop a large pond stocked with tropical fish.
Two of the four air-conditioned bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms are housed in each building. All the king sized bedrooms boast large glass-doors permitting the free circulation of air, whilst the main living spaces are naturally ventilated open structures.
The central structure of the compound is the building encompassing the living area. In the center of this structure, the extensive living room is furnished with four large daybeds prominently sunken to a lower level in the blond terrazzo flooring. Elegantly garnished with numerous soft cushioning and ceramics from the island of Lombok, the room is an ideal spot for leisurely pastimes.
The formal dining area with seating for eight is located in a raised area at the north end of the room. A small corridor leads away from the eating area to a large western style fully equipped kitchen. At the southern end of the lounge, houses a large Jacuzzi room.
Wide cream steps lead down from the living room to the swimming pool and patio area. The garden contains an outdoor bale (covered seating area), the perfect spot for welcome shade, and sun lounges and parasols.
The Sorga Ki
The largest of the three villas, 2292m2 property, Villa Ki is a composite of five buildings. Four of these, containing the five air-conditioned king sized bedrooms, two kitchens, two dining areas and numerous relaxation spaces, encircle the freestanding lounge and swimming pool.
Rice terraces descend to meet the edge of the garden and the most pressing sound is the gentle rustling of the thatched roofs in the breeze. Villa Ki is an exceptionally peaceful retreat capturing the true essence of traditional Bali.
To the left side of the entrance pathway, the furthest building houses the Master Bedroom With antique Balinese carved doors open out into a delicious open-air bathroom where an enormous circular bath. Aged teak double doors lead to a paved passageway connecting the formal dining area with a rectangular dining table ideal for formal dinner parties and a comfortable tempat duduk (wide seat) for after-dinner entertainment. A spherical interior wall encloses a modern stylish kitchen, enabling staff to attend to your every whim.
The Second and Third bedrooms are housed in the third building structure. Both rooms have full-length windows and double sized glass-paneled doors, and each ensuite bathroom has an exquisite sunken bath and decorative tiled border. The bedrooms both have mosquito-canopies and the third bedroom boasts an antique four-poster bed.
A second kitchen, informal eating area and the fourth bedroom make up the ground floor of the most northern structure in the compound. Bleached wooden stairs lead up to the Fifth Bedroom that contains a magnificent four-poster bed tastefully decorated in deep purple fabrics to match the dark wood base.
A diagonal terrace levels with the top of the rice terraces and is a great spot to survey the rest of the property. Topped by a tiang (architectural crown) the conical roofed structure of the main living area is supported by cream pillars. Distinctive furnishings include the rough-hewn wooden table and aged teak chests. A horseshoe couch makes a delightful shaded location from which to view the 60m kidney-shaped swimming pool, sun decks and garden seating below.
