Villa Samadhana Review

Villa Samadhana is Sanskrit word which literally means ‘a true religious meditation, and profound intellectual absorption into and contemplation of pure spirit’. Villa Samadhana is hidden at the Ketewel village, a village which is still quiet and bit away from all touristic spots. Villa Samadhana is within walking distance to the beach.

Villa Samadhana is just a 45 minute drive from Bali’s international airport, 30 minutes from the cultural town of Ubud, ten minutes from Sukawati art and handicraft market, 10-15 minutes from Sanur, and 30-45 minutes from the restaurants, shops and nightlife of Kuta and Seminyak. Horse riding takes place at the neighboring Saba stables, and three of the best golf courses in the world are located within easy reach.

Villa Samadhana Accommodation

Villa Samadhana is a creation of the reputable Malaysian architect, Yew Kuan (Aman Resorts/Como Shambala Resorts). This private residence of 74 are (7,400 M2), is located in Ketewel area, a village atmosphere along the coastline, north of well-known Sanur.

As one enters onto the property, the sprawling lawns give a sense of grandeur to these palatial grounds as executed by professional landscaping expert, Trevor Hilliar, also reputed for many botanical wonders in Bali and aboard.

Passing over a lotus pond on the storybook bridge past the entrance there is the guest house located to the right with a comfortable living area with fully-equipped kitchen and flanked by two large bedrooms with en-suite indoor/outdoor bathrooms (1 queen and 1 twin).

In the distance directly ahead, one can see the main house with an open living area and dining area. This comfortable area is the focus of the house, which in the rear is an indoor library/TV room and further to the rear a huge beautifully designed kitchen for preparation of luscious meals and high tea snacks to be served to guests.

There are beautiful ponds separating the master suite area, which boasts a large bedroom with an adjoining sitting/ TV and office space to one side and an adjoining large walk-in wardrobe and bathroom on the other side.

A verandah faces a large garden with coconut trees framing a lovely ocean view from all sides.

To the right of the main house, a two bedrooms (2 queen sized beds) structure harbors large bathrooms with water features and spacious quarters. On a lower level from the main house an enormous game room is located facing the 25 meter swimming pool facing an easterly ocean view. This area has ample space for gatherings and entertaining with a bar/pantry and bathroom, pool table, sitting area with TV opening to the poolside patio with an outdoor dining area, lounge area and platform with a Chinese bed for relaxing by the pool.

Villa Samadhana boasts its spacious and large ground. The swimming pool is children friendly as there is special shallow part for kids. The view to the ocean can be clearly seen from this area. Next to the pool there is an open space for outdoor dining. The dining table is made of big stone and surrounded by some ‘menhir’ stone.
